What are they?
Barreleyes also know as spook fish are small deep fish creatures which are argentiniformes fishes. This means that they are an order of ray finned fish. They are known for their adaptations of their eyes see through head. Since they live deep in the ocean, few details are known about them.
Habitat: Found in both temperate and tropical waters like the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. They live in deep water levels ranging from 1,312 to 8,200 ft (400 to 2,500 m)
Diet: Jellyfishes and other small drifting marine animals.
Predator: it is unknown for now, however they should have some, it's just that we don't know about it yet.
Lifespan: Unknown fir now.
Mating: They are pelagic spawners, so the eggs and sperm are released into upper levels of water. The fertilized eggs are floatable and rise to the shallower parts of the ocean. Once they reach adulthood, they descend to the lower depths of water.
Size: less than 8 in (20 cm) but some another species can reach to 20 in (50 cm).

Really Cool Facts:
- They have flat fins that allow them to remain nearly motionless in the water, and to move very precisely.
- They have small mouths that may suggest that they can be very precise and selective in capturing small prey
- They have extremely light-sensitive eyes because they have tubular eyes that are good for collecting light.
- Their eyes can rotate within a transparent, fluid-filled shield on its head and their eyes are able to rotate so they can see above them. This is due to their tubular eyes that are fixed so they can only see what is above of their head, at least that is what scientist thought before.
- There is now a hypothesis that the green pigments in their eyes may filter out sunlight coming from the sea surface, helping the barreleye spot the glow of jellyfishes or other animals directly overhead. When it spots prey the fish rotates its eyes forward and swims upward,to catch the prey.
- Their eyes are capped with bright green lenses.
